My name is Charlie and I cough a lot, so I thought I’d write about it.
I have recently gone down to part time hours at work, but I’m lucky enough to still have quite a social and active life. However, I still find that work/life/health balance hard to keep up sometimes!
The reason I’ve set up this site is not just to have a cry about the different ways chronic illness affects my life (although I’m sure that’ll happen too). I really just want to post about issues or everyday things that other people might be going through as well, with a touch of humour here and there.
The thing is that chronic illness affects basically everyone in some way. A huge number of people suffer silently with all variations of visible or invisible illness, or we all know someone who does. I really want to hear other people’s stories as well, so will be getting guest posts on here too so we can all compare notes! Give me a message if you want to contribute your story – I’d love to hear from you.
When I’m not writing about being sick, I work full-time at a New Zealand fitness company on their website and emails *cough* transferrable skills *cough*, and am on the committee of an Australian Primary Immunodeficiency charity as their web specialist.
I live in an apartment in the Auckland CBD, and have been known to attempt to brew beer in here too. Speaking of which, I love a hoppy craft beer, a nice Highland whiskey, a tasty long black coffee, or a cheeky NZ wine or two.
I try to keep fit and get outdoors as much as I can, and attempt to eat well… But I do love a good burger. When I’m feeling ill or down, I like to binge watch UK comedy panel shows and eat entire packs of chocolate biscuits.
So that’s me. Visit my blog page for more over-sharing 🙂
